Combining the very best of fresh seafood and locally sourced ingredients, our famous take on sautéed mussels is sure to amaze. Perfectly tender and brimming with flavor, these mussels are like none other. Here is our recipe from Amen Street Chef de Cuisine, Victoria-Carroll Williams—with a few at-home cooking tips. Try your hand in the kitchen with this delightful dish, or visit our restaurant to enjoy it from the master herself!
- 25 Mussels
- 1 oz. Shallots (Julianne)
- 3 oz. Roasted Tomato
- 2 oz. Butter
- 5 oz. White Wine
- Salt & Pepper To Taste
At Amen Street, we source all of our seafood from the very best local and regional suppliers. For the best mussels, we recommend seeking out an expert at your local fish market or gourmet food store—or of course joining us for dinner!
- Sauté mussels and shallots for 2 minutes, using a hot sauté pan with half an ounce of oil
- Add roasted tomato and butter until melted
- Add white wine & salt and pepper to taste
- Cook until all mussels are open
- 6 minute total cook time
Adding roasted tomato and butter is the secret behind our flavor packed “Tomato Reduction” listed on the menu. The resulting savory-sweet tomato sauce brings a little acidity and is a perfect complement to the salt of the mussels. Sautéing your mussels until they open helps ensure that they are both fully cooked and have had time to soak up the delicious flavors of the other ingredients.
We suggest serving this dish with grilled bread. The liquid left over from steaming makes the perfect dip!
