This weekend is the perfect time to sip the new featured wines at Amen Street‘s wine bar in downtown Charleston, SC. We’ve recently added Conundrum Red Blend and White Blend to our wine menu.
Much like Amen’s unique take on traditional Southern cuisine, Condundrum began by putting their own spin on traditional red and white grape varietals. Instead of featuring single varietals, Condundrum has perfectly blended and balanced nontraditional varietals together to create a complex yet harmonious symphony of flavors. Once you’ve had your first sip, you will surely agree these wines are delicious, high styled and pair beautifully with Amen Street’s raw bar selections and signature dishes.
Conundrum Red Blend:
Conundrum Red Blend 2010 has a nose that is almost floral, with tones of lavender, dried berries, baking chocolate, bacon bits. Aromas are rich, velvety and wonderfully appealing. Silky round entry with acid to balance and high fruit concentration. The nose leaves no doubt about the seriousness of this wine. The palate is fruit driven both before and after the high tannin middle core. The finish is long, not drying of tannin, and beckons a second sip.
Conundrum White Blend:
Conundrum is a true California wine, with grapes sourced from Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties. It is often described as “exotic” which is a fitting portrayal; there is no other wine quite like it.
This unique, non-traditional white wine blend was created to offer full-flavored fruit and enough complexity to match the creative dishes being offered by today’s generation of chefs. Conundrum can be served with every course from appetizer to dessert and pairs beautifully with spicy foods and full-flavored Asian cuisine. The “conundrum,” or puzzle, of this wine is in guessing which grapes make up the blend.
We invite you to Amen Street to sip and savor these delicious wines for yourself. To make a reservation, please our restaurant at 843-853-8600 or reserve your table online.
