Now, if you’re an oyster fan then you know that all oyster shooters are not created equal. Fast, fierce and spicy, the Amen Street’s oyster shooter packs a satisfying punch and is easily a party favorite in our bar. Our mixologists begin with a fresh raw oyster, add house infused spicy lemon pepper vodka and then finish off with our famous original Bloody Mary mix to create this signature shot. Of course, the question is what to do with the oyster? While chewing is optional, most experienced oyster shooter drinkers will tell you it’s best to slurp ’em down. Bottoms up!
Oyster shooters are created year-round, unlike the fresh soft-shell crab specials that Chef Stephen Ollard is offering this Spring and Summer. Soft shell blue crabs are only available during the crab’s natural molting season when they shed their hard shell exterior making them almost entirely edible. A restaurant darling, soft shell crabs are sweet and juicy with a subtle briny flavor.
No doubt, Amen Street’s Soft Shell Crab BLT is a guest favorite, but we’re never ceased to be amazed by what Stephen creates with fresh soft shell crabs on a daily basis. Some popular recent specials have been fried soft shell crab with curry coconut sauce served with shoestring vegetables or pan-fried soft-shell crab served over grits. All we can say is delicious!
