The end of spring this year has brought with it the commencement of two highly anticipated arts festivals: Spoleto Festival USA and Piccolo Spoleto Festival which begin May 23rd and run through June 8th. The national performing arts festival and it’s smaller, more regional cousin are both extremely popular because of the broad spectrum of musical, theater and dance performances they bring right to the auditoriums, churches, courtyards of historic downtown Charleston.
Whether you’re in town just for Spoleto, or you’re a local enjoying the artistic celebration for the night, we invite you to visit Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar for a cocktail or bite to eat before your show. The mild weather is perfect for sipping a glass of our favorite rose for spring, Veuve du Vernay, at one of our outdoor tables on historic East Bay Street. The sparkling wine is light and fresh, just like the breezes that sweep in from the harbor, and pairs exceptionally well with any of our savory gulf or specialty oysters on the half shell. After you’ve tasted the Veuve du Vernay, be sure to try one of our four specialty VinTap artisan wines. All four VinTap selections are flavorful on their own, but pair very well with any of the seafood dishes on our Dinner Menu.
VinTap Wine Menu:
Picnic Table Chardonnay – 2011, Napa
OUTOFBEER Sauvignon Blanc – 2011, North Coast
Forenzo Pinot Grigio – 2011, Mendocino
Five Easy Pieces Bordeaux Blend – 2010, North Coast
Those who prefer to sit inside can pull up a stool at our bar for delicious Cocktail Hour food and cocktail specials. Try Fried Green Tomatoes served with sweet and spicy okra and pimento cheese or Steamed Mussels served in a white wine sauce with roasted tomato and garlic. During happy hour you’ll also find a wide selection of beer, wine and cocktails. To view the full list of happy hour specials, visit the menu here.
