New Local Favorites To Beer Menu & Raw Bar Charleston SC

Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar recently added new local favorites to beer menu and raw bar.  Charleston SC’s best raw bar is a title we take very seriously…especially when it comes to oysters.  ‘Tis the oyster season in Charleston and we are enjoying every bit (or slurp?) of it especially with these new oyster additions to our raw bar:

Single Lady Oysters – The Single Lady is a sustainably harvested oyster from Lady’s Island Oyster Farm in the fertile, pure salt waters of the South Carolina Low Country. The waters were the Single Lady oysters are grown are estuaries filled with pure salt water flowing directly from the Atlantic. They have a flavorful salinity and brininess that make them uniquely their own.

Capers Blades Oysters – Sustainably cultivated and hand-harvested from Clammer Dave’s farm, these oysters have a clean, sweet meat with abundant tongue-curling salty liquor.

Otter Island Oysters –  Harvested on Edisto Island, these oysters are smaller and brinier.  The flavor profile is similar to oysters harvested in East Coast cold water. They are a little plumper and rounder than other local oysters, but equally delicious!

What better to go with our new oyster selections than three new local beers? We are loving these new beers on tap at our bar:

Westbrook Brewing Co.’s White Thai

This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger.

Holy City Pluff Mud Porter

Holy City’s Pluff Mud Porter was an effort to bring the American Porter style to the Charleston market proper, while also making a beer that stays appealing as the mercury rises. This beer presents (and smells) like a classic porter, with subtle chocolate notes and a silky finish, but the medium body and tame 5.5% ABV keep it refreshing at all times. The brewery’s says, “Pluff Mud makes its way into bourbon barrels roughly once a year. Keep your eyes (and nostrils) peeled.”  And we say, “Looking forward to it!”

RJ Rocker First Snow Day Winter Spice Ale

Hailing from Spartanburg, RJ Rocker’s First Snow Day Winter Spice Ale is a hearty American pale ale. It contains a rich blend of spices that warms the soul on a cold winter’s night.  It is only available only during the Winter season, so come get cozy with a sip..or two..or three while you can!

Another new addition to our bar is Somersby Hard Apple Cider.  Served in bottles, this hard cider is not only refreshing and delicious, but it’s gluten-free. Made from fermented apple juice and natural apple flavoring, it contains no artificial sweeteners, flavoring or coloring.

Amazing new oysters and great new beers on tap…yup, we know we will be seeing you very soon!
